Liquid crystal display Vs Cathode Ray Tube

Now a days every where we are seeing LCD(Liquid crystal display) monitors. These are very good for eyes and their picture quality is good compared to CRT(Cathode Ray Tube).Also they are very thin compared to CRT. LCD monitors don't have any tubes.They are lighter in weight also and more portable. But the only drawback of these monitors is their cost.They cost more compared to CRT as much as double.Now a days we are widely using these LCD displays in Laptops and watches etc.

Technology Involved in LCD:

LCD devices contain two sheets of polarizing material with a liquid crystal solution between them.When electric current passed through the LCD's liquid it causes the crystals to align so that light cannot pass through them.So each crystal either allowing light to pass through or blocking the light.This way LCD's work.

Processor (CPU):
Processor is like heart to the computer.All operations of the computer are processed by this microprocessor. It is a integrated circuit which is fabricated on a small chip.All logic circuits are fabricated on this single chip only using transistors.Firstly we had 8-bit microprocessors.Later they are replaced by 16-bit.Then we have got 32 bit microprocessors.Presently we are using 64 bit microprocessors.Latest 64 bit processor is Intel Pentium 4 ,3.06 GHz.Today's microprocessors are very powerful .We have also got multi core processors.They can multiply the performance of processor.The latest multi core microprocessor for home PC is Intel Core 2 Duo.many companies are producing these chips.The main are..Intel,AMD(Advanced Micro Devices),IBM,Sun Micro systems.The processors speed is measured in Hertz's.It is also known as Clock Speed.It means that how many instructions per second the processors can execute.We use heat sinks to protect the processor from over heating.

Motherboard-Computer's circuit board

Motherboard: This is the main part of computer.It combines all parts of computer like Processor,RAM,Hard Drive,CD-Drive etc.It is a platform for all parts of computer.It contains Input and Output ports.All connections i/o connections are given to the computer through Motherboard only.Every motherboard will have its own drivers depending upon its configuration and manufacturer.Major Components found on the motherboard are:

It contains many circuits with thousands of transistors,capacitors and resistors.Also it contains slots for RAM and Graphic cards and a base to fix processor.We connect Monitor ,Keyboard ,mouse and any other external devices to it by wires.

Computer ..now a days without this we can't live. It became as a part of our life.It can be used for many day to day works.The main use of it is Internet browsing.

In computers we have many types.Mainly we can divide into two,Portable and non portable.Laptops come under portable computers. We can take them to any place and do computing.It runs with battery and its size is very less compared to desktop PC.Many business people and travelling people use it. Other type is Desktop PC ( Personal Computer).Generally we use these type of computers in Homes and offices.These are very big in size compared to Laptops.But these computers are more powerful than Laptops.
